Which banks disclose the most about their technology workforce and hiring?

The 30 highest of 114 banks with a technologist or hiring figure, open AI roles on a surveyed careers site, a dated talent move or a hub, lab or university programme on their page. Columns: the disclosed figure (technologists, engineers, developers, data scientists, hires, graduates), the open AI roles counted on the bank's careers site on the date shown (12+ means the survey cap was reached), the named technology leaders (CTO, CIO, chief data, AI or digital officer, heads of engineering or AI), and the hub, university or programme count with the latest talent move.

Each row quotes the bank's page on this site; the bank link opens the full record with every source. “Not disclosed” means the page records nothing on that point. Banks absent from the table have no evidence on this topic on their page.

Which large banks are hiring the most AI and technology roles right now?

The 15 banks with the most open AI roles on the careers sites surveyed (capped at 12 per bank), with the role families the postings fall into. The full survey, by family and city, is on the AI hiring pages.

How is this ranking computed?

Score = 3 × disclosed numbers whose label or value counts technologists, engineers, developers, data scientists, technology employees, AI staff, hires, graduates, interns or apprentices (a count of engineers using a tool counts as an engineer count; productivity-gain, time-saved and total-headcount-change figures are excluded) + dated timeline moves about hiring, talent, hubs, universities, academies, upskilling or headcount (capped at 4) + named leaders whose role is chief technology, information, digital, data, AI, analytics or innovation officer, head of technology, engineering, AI or data, or an engineering role (capped at 3) + open AI roles on the bank's surveyed careers site divided by four (capped at 3 points, i.e. 12 roles) + hub, lab, university, academy or apprenticeship entries among the bank's timeline and section rows (capped at 2). Ties by number of figures, then assets, then name.

Open roles come from the careers-site survey behind /banks/ai-hiring (58 of 140 banks surveyed, counts capped at 12, each with its survey date); a bank without a survey scores zero on that component rather than being excluded.

What are the caveats?

"Attracting top talent" cannot be measured from the public record; this page measures what banks disclose about their technology workforce and what they are advertising. A large technologist headcount shows scale, not quality; a high open-role count can mean growth or attrition. The figures banks give use different bases (technologists, engineers, technology employees, developers using a tool) and are not comparable.

Careers-site counts are a snapshot on the survey date and include only roles whose title reads as AI or machine learning; most technology hiring is not labelled AI and is not counted. Banks that advertise through agencies or do not list roles publicly are understated.

How does this differ from the AI index?

The AI index counts named leaders (5%) and disclosed numbers (5%) without regard to subject; this page keeps only workforce and hiring evidence, adds the careers-site survey, and ranks on that alone.
