ANTHROPIC · LAUNCHED AUG 26, 2026

META · LAUNCHED SEP 8, 2026

Muse

Runs on a per-user cloud computer (Muse Secure VM) with its own Chromium browser and a credential store, so it can sign in to websites and act with the user's stored logins while the model never sees the password. How is this tracked?

Unit: one relation between one agent (or agentic-commerce programme) and one bank or fintech, with the date of the earliest public evidence, a verbatim quote of at most two sentences and its source. 118 distinct sources back the 117 relations; 55 are the bank's or vendor's own statement, release, terms or FAQ, the rest are reputable outlets reporting a statement or a decision.

Relations: blocked — The bank says it does not let the agent log in, act or transact in customer accounts, or is reported to block it; restricted — Partial: no log-in or transactions, but a narrower path stays open (read-only data through an approved open-banking provider, human approval for payments); planned block — The bank has said it will block the agent but the block is not yet in force; under review — The bank says it is considering blocking or limiting the agent; no decision is on the record; tolerated — The bank says customers may use the agent, or that it does not block it; partnered — An official integration: the bank is a named issuer or partner in the agent's or programme's launch, or offers a sanctioned connection for it.

"Any third-party agent" is used when a bank's statement covers outside agents in general (Scotiabank and TD Bank Group); a bank that names a product (Muse) gets a row for that product as well. One active row per agent and bank: when a position changes, the newer row replaces the older one, which stays in data/agent-access/relations.jsonl with active: false.

Headline number: banks among the 25 largest US banks and brokerages we profile, by consolidated assets (Federal Reserve large-bank data as of Jun 30, 2026, holding-company figures where a firm is not on that list), with at least one blocked or restricted relation: JPMorgan, BofA, Citi, Wells Fargo, PNC, Schwab, Morgan Stanley and Fifth Third. Checked Oct 31, 2026: the latest day a row was compared with its source.

What are the caveats?

Silence is not a relation. A bank that has said nothing publicly is absent from the graph, even if it blocks agents in practice (most banks' fraud systems flag automated log-ins without announcing it) or tolerates them.

Reported positions are as reported: several rows rest on people familiar with a decision (Axios, Reuters) or on a chief executive's remark; the quote and the publisher are shown so the strength of the evidence is visible. Products change names and terms change without notice; the weekly sweep and the checked date are how this page keeps up.

Partnerships are programme-level: a bank named as an issuer in Mastercard Agent Pay or Visa Intelligent Commerce lets agents pay with tokenised cards under the network's rules; it is not an endorsement of any particular consumer agent logging in.

Which banks block AI agents like Meta's Muse?

8 of the 25 largest US banks block or restrict third-party AI agents as of Oct 31, 2026: JPMorgan, BofA, Citi, Wells Fargo, PNC, Schwab, Morgan Stanley and Fifth Third. 3 banks name Muse in a block or restriction (RBC, Schwab and JPMorgan). 14 banks apply the rule to outside agents in general rather than to one product. Each row on this page quotes the statement or report it rests on.

What exactly are banks blocking?

Mostly log-ins: 16 of the 22 block or restriction rows concern agents that sign in with the customer's username and password, the route banks tell customers never to share. Several banks that block the log-in keep a narrower door open, such as read-only data through an approved open-banking provider or a human approval before money moves; those rows are marked restricted.

Do any banks allow or partner with AI agents?

Yes, through sanctioned channels. 65 banks are named partners or issuers in Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT (Instant Checkout, apps), Any third-party agent, Sierra Poppy (Personal Agent Protocol), Mastercard Agent Pay, Meta Muse, Stripe Agentic Commerce Protocol, Visa Intelligent Commerce, Google Gemini Agent, OpenClaw (open source) OpenClaw, Microsoft Copilot Actions, Google Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) and Perplexity Comet (Coop Bank, HSBC, BofA, Synchrony, Wells Fargo, Mercury, Banco Sabadell and eToro and 57 more), where the agent pays with a tokenised card or a bank-approved connection instead of the customer's password.

Which banks are still deciding?

4 relations are planned or under review: National Bank of Canada on Meta Muse (under review, Oct 28, 2026); Wealthsimple on Any third-party agent (under review, Oct 28, 2026); Caixa Econômica Federal on Any third-party agent (under review, Aug 25, 2026); Commonwealth Bank on Any third-party agent (under review, Dec 1, 2025). A bank leaves this group when it announces a decision, and the row is replaced, with the earlier one kept in the dataset.

How is this tracker built and updated?

From public statements only: bank newsrooms, terms and FAQs, executives on the record, vendor launch releases and reputable reporting. Each of the 117 rows carries a verbatim quote that the build checks against the source text, the date of the earliest evidence and a link. A weekly sweep on Sundays searches the news of the last eight days for every agent and bank pair and proposes new rows for review; the last sweep ran on Oct 31, 2026 and the next is due Nov 1, 2026. A bank absent from the page has made no public statement we could find, which is not the same as allowing agents.
