What proprietary AI has FNB built in-house?
FNB's in-house AI is a set of predictive and machine-learning models built on its own data hub, not a foundation model or a named assistant. The longest-running is Opportunity IQ, a lead engine that by November 2025 had mined more than 270 million transactions and generated about 190,000 leads a quarter, with predictive cross-sell models updated in 2024 that FNB says doubled lead quality. FNB also uses its data hub and machine learning to price deposits, which management credited for a 3 basis point linked-quarter fall in total deposit costs in the second quarter of 2026, and showed a 'proprietary blend of 10 AI-enabled fraud tools' at its investor day. The next system is Insight 360, an AI-enabled customer aggregation and insight tool that CEO Vincent Delie called proprietary; on October 20, 2026 he said he had sat through a demo the day before and that FNB was on track to deliver it. A data-science team under Sundeep Tangirala, hired from PNC in September 2025, builds the decisioning, regulatory and forecasting models. FNB names no AI-model vendor and discloses no AI spend.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Why does FNB build its own AI tools?
Delie ties the in-house approach to data: FNB kept critical data fields on premises so tools the bank built could use them, which he says gave it a head start on AI. 'We've spent a lot of time on data governance, building the data hub, building out these systems that enable us to move data around within the company,' he told Banking Dive in April 2026.[9]
Management said on the Q1 2026 call that most of the development cost 'ends up being capitalized for software applications that we develop', and Delie described Insight 360 as 'proprietary. I don't see it anywhere.'[7]
FNB is pacing the work. On October 20, 2026 Delie said about 100 initiatives to use AI for efficiency or revenue are 'still on the docket', and that FNB will not 'tackle everything because the expense build, the CapEx spend and additional build and infrastructure and token utilization relative to data consumption is expensive'.[4]
In July 2026 Delie said FNB is 'more heavily weighted towards generating revenue with our AI investment', funding AI through reallocated resources and existing technology investments.[2]
What has FNB not disclosed about its proprietary AI?
FNB names no foundation-model or cloud AI vendor, and its 10-K says only that it may rely on AI models developed by third parties. It has not said which of its 10 fraud tools it built and which it bought.[6][1]
No AI spend, data-science headcount or model count beyond the 16 CECL and stress-testing models is published; FNB declined to tell Banking Dive how much it has invested in its digital strategy.[1][9]
No firm Insight 360 launch date has been given since July 2026, when FNB said it would go live by the end of the year. On the October 2026 call Delie said 'we have some great things coming out in the first quarter' and 'We're on track to deliver Insight 360', without restating a date.[7][2][4]
FNB's third-quarter 2026 release lists among its risks 'our use of artificial intelligence in connection with business and operations' and 'evolving artificial intelligence sourced fraud schemes'.[10]

Does FNB build its own AI models?
Yes, predictive and machine-learning models rather than foundation models. FNB built the Opportunity IQ lead engine, deposit-pricing models on its data hub, household insight models and decisioning, regulatory and forecasting models run by its data-science team. It names no outside AI-model vendor.
What is Opportunity IQ?
Opportunity IQ is FNB's in-house cross-sell lead engine. By November 2025 it had mined more than 270 million transactions and was generating about 190,000 leads a quarter, about 80% of them called, adding roughly 500 consumer loan applications and 1,500 deposit accounts a quarter.
When will FNB launch Insight 360?
FNB said in April and July 2026 that Insight 360 would go live by the end of 2026. On October 20, 2026 CEO Vincent Delie said he had seen a demo the day before and that FNB was on track to deliver it, without restating a date; he added that 'great things' were coming out in the first quarter.
Who builds AI at FNB?
Sundeep Tangirala, director of data science and formerly head of data and machine learning engineering at PNC, leads the data scientists and quantitative modeling analysts. Santosh Sinha, director of AI and innovation, owns the AI strategy. Both joined in September 2025 and report to chief strategy officer Chris Chan.
Does FNB use generative AI from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google?
FNB has not said. Its 10-K mentions generative AI and the possibility of relying on AI models developed by third parties, but no filing, call or release names a model provider. CEO Vincent Delie has cited token costs as a reason to phase AI work.
