What is FNB's AI strategy, and what has its CEO said about it?
F.N.B. Corporation's AI strategy is to turn a decade of data and digital investment into revenue. CEO Vincent Delie argued in April 2026 that AI democratises capabilities such as coding assistants, so 'smaller banks [will come] out with some very innovative tools that the larger banks miss', and said keeping critical data on premises in a self-built data hub gave FNB a head start. In September 2025 it hired a director of AI and innovation and a director of data science; at its November 2025 investor day it showed an AI Innovation Team prioritising use cases, 10 AI-enabled fraud tools and an Opportunity IQ lead engine whose updated predictive models doubled lead quality. On the first-quarter 2026 call management guided non-interest expense to the top of its $1.00 billion to $1.02 billion range because of accelerated AI investment; in July 2026 Delie said FNB is 'more heavily weighted towards generating revenue with our AI investment', credited machine-learning deposit pricing on the data hub with cutting deposit costs 21 basis points year on year, and set Insight 360, an AI customer-aggregation and recommendation tool, to go live by the end of 2026. FNB does not disclose an AI budget, names no AI model vendor and has no chief AI officer.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

What does FNB spend on AI, and what has it reported in return?
FNB does not disclose AI or technology spend. Non-interest expense was about $1 billion in 2025, partly from higher technology and third-party costs, and management guided 2026 expense to the top of $1.00 billion to $1.02 billion on accelerated AI, treasury-management and branch investment, redeploying programmers to the three highest-impact areas.[1][4]
Results it ties to AI: record second-quarter 2026 revenue of $462.7 million, which Delie credited partly to 'investments in digital capabilities, data analytics and artificial intelligence', lower deposit costs from machine-learning pricing, and a target to bring the efficiency ratio below 50% by year-end.[17][14]
