What technology stack does Huntington run?
Huntington runs a multi-cloud, vendor-first stack. CFO Zach Wasserman said in September 2025 that it partners with all three major clouds (Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure), names Salesforce and Microsoft as major partners, and relies on technology partners about 80% of the time for AI. Its chief architect said in 2022 that Huntington's API architecture is 'a central component to our growth and technology strategy' as it worked with Google Cloud on the Columbus region. On AWS it moved more than 400 million documents from on-premises storage through DataSync and Direct Connect into S3 and redacted them with Textract, SageMaker and Step Functions at about 10 million a day, at about 5% of the original cost estimate. Business clients get a Treasury Management Connectivity Ecosystem with more than 500 interfaces (October 2025), a developer portal with an API Simulator, embedded payments built with Payabli and, from June 2026, access to the CHIPS network. Technology investment grew at a 25% compound annual rate over five years to 2025, and the Cadence conversion finished in 235 days with AI-enabled tools.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

How much is Huntington investing in technology, and what is it modernising?
Over the five years to 2025 Huntington's technology investment grew at a 25% compound annual rate while total expenses grew at 5%, the CFO told American Banker. For 2026 management guided investment in digital, marketing and talent up about 20%, and Wasserman said the 'supermajority of the investments goes towards technology', mainly customer-facing digital capabilities such as self-service, payments, deposit products and wealth tools.[1][13][14]
The 2025 annual report says digital acquisition grew 27% and customers completed more than one billion digital interactions in 2025, and that the year brought 1-Tap account originations, enhanced fraud authentication and expanded remote servicing. Chief information officer Kendall Kowalski has run technology since February 2014.[15][16]
Two bank conversions tested the stack. Veritex converted in January 2026 and Cadence in 235 days from announcement, with 'AI-enabled tools to automate a number of the manual processes' and 4,500 colleagues moved onto Huntington systems. Head of payment products Deepak Kapoor said in June 2026 that 'The remit for Huntington is to modernize our payment system'.[17][8][7]
Not disclosed: the core banking platform vendor, the share of workloads in public cloud, or the size of the engineering workforce. In April 2026 some technology hiring and spending was trimmed to keep expense growth in the lower half of guidance.[18]

Which cloud does Huntington use?
All three major providers. CFO Zach Wasserman told American Banker in September 2025 that Huntington partners with Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. It collaborated with Google Cloud on the Columbus, Ohio region in 2022 and ran a 400 million-document redaction project on AWS in 2026.
Does Huntington build its own AI or use vendors?

Does Huntington offer APIs to business clients?
Yes. The Treasury Management Connectivity Ecosystem launched in October 2025 with more than 500 interfaces, and the Huntington Developer Portal offers an API Simulator, an API catalog and request logging so developers can test payments, reporting and balance-inquiry integrations before signing up.
How did Huntington use AI in the Cadence integration?
On the Q2 2026 call president Brant Standridge said the Cadence conversion used AI-enabled tools to automate a number of manual processes, moved 4,500 colleagues onto Huntington systems and finished 235 days after the deal was announced.
