How does USAA organize its AI research and invention?
There is no separate research lab on the public record. AI work runs through pods of about 10 to 12 data scientists, engineers and product managers under chief data, analytics and AI officer Ramnik Bajaj, and USAA trains its own models, including computer vision for insurance images, alongside vendor models.[24][12]
Patenting is long-standing: USAA said in February 2023 that it held more than 3,000 pending and issued patents and had climbed to 125th on the Patent 300 for 2022 grants, a 164 percent increase in patents issued since 2018.
