Bank of America hired 1,000 contractors to patch AI-exposed software flaws

For the CISO of a regional bank

Bank of America added 1,000 contractors to 3,000 in-house staff and spent a "couple hundred million plus" in one quarter, a figure that also covers AML work. Your board will still ask for your number, vendor code included.

Mythos is an Anthropic AI model, released in April to a small group of banks, tech firms and government agencies, that can find and exploit decades-old software flaws. Bank of America answered with labor: 1,000 contractors added in the second quarter, still there, on top of 3,000 staff, patching internal and vendor code. The simple model is a backlog. Find every unlocked window at once, lock them, and the bill falls; Moynihan expects that. The imperfect part: the "couple hundred million plus" spent in the third quarter also covers anti-money laundering issues. The exception is vendor code. Who writes the fix? The vendor, who Moynihan notes is also selling the services. Your board will see one quarter, one number, and ask for yours.

→ Action

Information security: Inventory vendor-supplied code in critical systems and record each vendor's patch commitments and timelines for AI-found flaws.

Unit21 and Corelation link fraud cases to KeyStone core actions

For the fraud lead at a KeyStone credit union

Fraud moves in seconds, and the data feed arrives roughly every five minutes. Unit21 now lets your analyst freeze the card from inside the case, so the second login is gone and the clock is the slowest step left.

Unit21 now plugs into KeyStone, the core Corelation sells to over 300 credit unions. Member, account, card and transaction data flows out to Unit21 roughly every five minutes. Analysts work the alert there, then send card blocks, stop payments and check holds back into the core through Corelation's KeyBridge API, without leaving the case. Each request, response and action lands on the same record as the evidence, ready for a SAR or CTR. Before, analysts spotted fraud in one tool, then logged in to the core, searched for the member again and retyped the details. That is a second trip across town while the money leaves. The limit: five minutes is near real time, and instant payments need the optional digital banking link. The audit file stops being a reconstruction.

→ Action

Fraud operations: Ask Corelation to scope the Unit21 AML Extract and KeyBridge card-block, stop-payment and hold permissions for your KeyStone environment.

Google releases flagship AI model Gemini 4 Argon to developers and businesses

For the CTO of a US regional bank

Google will hand an Argon version without cyber guardrails to hundreds more vetted defenders. Your red team should apply; attackers probing your old code may hold something similar. And the API price doubles after November 30.

Gemini 4 Argon is Google's flagship model, sold through its app-building tools and pitched at long, multi-step work in coding and cybersecurity. Developers pay per token: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, both doubling after November 30. The public version carries cyber guardrails. Through its Fairwind Program, Google gives vetted defenders a version without them, and is opening it to hundreds more partners. The simple model: defenders get the sharp tool, everyone else gets the dull one. That is imperfect. Vetting is a gate, not a wall. Why hand out the unguarded version at all? Because a flaw in old code gets found either way; the question is by whom. A pilot priced at launch rates costs double in December.

→ Action

Security engineering: Apply for Google's Fairwind Program access and aim red-team testing at legacy code before the November 30 price increase.
