Anthropic adds wealth-platform connectors to Claude for Financial Advisors
For the head of wealth platforms at a regional bank
Anthropic and a group of wealth-technology and asset-management firms announced new connectors for Claude for Financial Advisors on Oct. 27, according to InvestmentNews and J.P. Morgan Asset Management.23
The sources do not say why Anthropic made the move now; InvestmentNews reported that the announcements came on the opening day of Schwab's IMPACT conference, one day after Anthropic filed its S-1 with the SEC.2 The sources disagree on the launch date: Post-Cutoff says Anthropic released the product on Oct. 27, while InvestmentNews says it launched about six weeks earlier and Oct. 27 brought new partners.12
Post-Cutoff, which lists the official Claude page on claude.com as its primary source, lists connectors for Addepar, BlackRock (Advisor Center), CAIS, Charles Schwab (Schwab Advisor Services custodial data), Envestnet (Tamarac, MoneyGuide), Orion (with Redtail CRM), Vanguard and J.P. Morgan Asset Management (55ip tax transitions), among others.1
Post-Cutoff reports that a plugin bundles skills and connectors, with skills for pre-meeting prep, post-meeting notes, portfolio rebalance review, prospect intake and compliance; Claude stages CRM updates and client messages for approval.1
Post-Cutoff reports that the compliance skill screens client-facing language against the SEC Marketing Rule, and quotes Anthropic: "Investment recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations, and other regulated activities remain subject to human review and approval."1
J.P. Morgan Asset Management said in a press release that 55ip's connector lets advisors run tax-aware transition scenarios, and disclosed that JPMorganChase is an investor in Anthropic.3
The stated safeguard is human approval of what Claude produces. The sources describe no equivalent approval step for what Claude reads through each connector, so banks and wealth firms should review data access, vendor terms and client-data controls at the connector level, not only at the output stage.
Our take. Anthropic's only named safeguard is an advisor clicking approve. If your advisors already run Orion, Envestnet or Wealthbox, those vendors' connectors could reach them before your vendor-risk team has seen a data-flow map.
Action. Vendor risk: Inventory which Orion, Envestnet, Schwab and Wealthbox instances can enable Claude connectors, and map the client data each one exposes.
