Anthropic files for Nasdaq IPO as ANT, reports $16.3B first-half revenue
For the third-party risk lead at a us bank
Anthropic publicly filed an S-1 registration statement for an initial public offering on Monday, applying to trade on Nasdaq under the symbol ANT, VentureBeat reported.1
The filing does not specify the offering's share count or price range, according to VentureBeat's account of the S-1.1 The S-1 reports $16.3 billion in revenue for the first six months of 2026, up 1,300% from $1.16 billion a year earlier.1
Anthropic reports a first-half net loss of $80.7 billion, of which about $72.4 billion comes from changes in the accounting value of convertible notes and other financing instruments, primarily reflecting its rising valuation.1
Revenue fell short of operating expenses of approximately $17 billion, producing a $693 million operating loss, down from $2.14 billion a year earlier; computing and infrastructure expenses were $8.95 billion, up from $2.33 billion.1
Operating cash flow was positive at $3.93 billion, which the company attributed partly to the timing of customer receipts and vendor payments.1
Usage-based sales supplied 80% of first-half revenue, and one disclosed equipment lease entails approximately $125.2 billion in rent over five years, excluding interest, according to the filing as described by VentureBeat.1
The filing gives bank and fintech buyers audited figures on a vendor they may already depend on, including its fixed compute commitments against largely uncommitted customer revenue. Anthropic says it is unclear when an agent's actions could bind the deploying organization and that a severe AI incident could exceed insurance capacity, so banks should settle liability, approval limits and fallback providers in contracts themselves.
Our take. Anthropic says 80% of its revenue is usage-based and can shrink any month, while one lease alone runs $125.2 billion over five years. It also says nobody knows whether its agents' actions bind your bank.
Action. Third-party risk: Add Anthropic's S-1 risk factors on agent liability, compute capacity and the FTC investigative demand to the vendor due-diligence file.
