How does OCBC use AI in wealth management?
Wealth is where OCBC's AI is concentrated. For clients, OCBC WoW, launched on July 1, 2026 as what the bank calls the region's first AI-native bank app, gives Premier Private Client customers two avatars, Wendy and Wayne, modelled on employees Terissa Chang and Ethan Peh, that discuss portfolios and OCBC research by voice or text; it began as a beta for 50 invited clients with at least S$1.5 million in assets. For private bankers, Bank of Singapore's Source of Wealth Assistant (live June 2025) drafts know-your-customer source-of-wealth reports in about an hour instead of up to 10 days, and HELIOS, announced July 29, 2026, is a five-agent due-diligence platform that cut median account opening to 15 business days from an average of more than 30; it was tested by 25% of Bank of Singapore's relationship managers over five months. HOLMES AI curates talking points for those bankers (up to 20% productivity), A.I. Oscar suggests stocks to OCBC Securities customers (trading accounts opened up 95% in three months), and since April 2026 a Gen AI programme coaches all 900 Singapore wealth advisers. Advice stays human: the avatars are not licensed to give it, and relationship managers keep final judgment on onboarding.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

| Agent | Role | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Prospect research | Supports pre-onboarding due diligence before the relationship manager engages the prospect | Live[7] |
| Onboarding recommendation | Highlights remaining profile gaps so the banker can ask for everything at once | Live[7][6] |
| Leads generator | Identifies associates of current prospects so compliance passes on higher-quality leads | Live[7] |
| Independent checker | Checks the other agents for accuracy; what it cannot verify is checked by a human | Live[7] |
| Ongoing monitoring | Monitors existing clients for changes in risk profile between periodic reviews | Due first half of 2027[7][14] |
What limits has OCBC put on AI in wealth management?
The avatars do not advise. OCBC head of wealth advisory Chez Anbu said Wendy and Wayne are neither client advisers nor relationship managers and are not licensed to give financial advice; customers are pointed to human advisers. If either employee leaves, their avatar is removed and replaced with another staff member's likeness, and employees can withdraw consent at any time, as part of the bank's AI guardrails.[2]
Onboarding decisions stay with people. Relationship managers review and refine every SOWA draft before internal review teams assess it under anti-money-laundering controls, and SOWA data stays on Bank of Singapore's private cloud. For HELIOS, OCBC says relationship managers and review teams keep ultimate accountability for review, judgment and decisions; Bank of Singapore CEO Jason Moo said the system 'was built by compliance'.[4][6][7]

What is OCBC WoW and who can use it?
OCBC WoW ('Whole-of-Wealth') is an AI-native mobile app launched on July 1, 2026 with two avatars, Wendy and Wayne, based on OCBC employees Terissa Chang and Ethan Peh. They answer questions about a customer's portfolio, markets and OCBC research by voice or text. It began as a beta for 50 invited Premier Private Client customers with at least S$1.5 million in assets, with wider roll-out over the following 12 months; the avatars speak English only for now.
How does HELIOS speed up private banking onboarding?
HELIOS moves due diligence before the first meeting: agents research the prospect, map their relationships, flag missing information and generate leads, and an independent agent checks the others' work. OCBC says median account opening at Bank of Singapore fell to 15 business days from an average of more than 30, against an industry median of about six weeks; MAS and the private banking industry had set a target of within a month by end-2026.
What is Bank of Singapore's Source of Wealth Assistant?
SOWA is an agentic AI tool, launched in June 2025 and announced on October 10, 2025, that reviews client documents such as financial statements, tax notices and payslips uploaded by a relationship manager and drafts a standardised source-of-wealth report, checking plausibility against salary and company-revenue benchmarks. It cut preparation from up to 10 days to about an hour. Bankers review every draft before compliance assessment.
Can OCBC's AI avatars give investment advice?
No. OCBC's head of wealth advisory said the avatars are not client advisers or relationship managers and are not licensed to give financial advice; customers who want advice are directed to human advisers and specialists. CEO Tan Teck Long has said the avatars will not replace staff, and the bank plans to hire 600 relationship managers over three years.
