What AI assistants does JPMorgan Chase use, and does Chase have one for customers?
JPMorgan Chase's AI assistants face employees first. LLM Suite, a portal to outside large language models launched with OpenAI's model, reached more than 60,000 employees by August 9, 2024, when chief data and analytics officer Teresa Heitsenrether said the bank was being more cautious with generative AI that touches individual customers because a chatbot could give bad information. President Daniel Pinto put the rollout at 140,000 employees in September 2024; Jamie Dimon counted 150,000 weekly users in February 2026, and global CIO Lori Beer said on October 22, 2026 that 200,000 employees actively use it. The 2025 annual report, published in April 2026, says the bank 'recently rolled out the Employee Assistant, a personalized AI-powered agent' giving staff a single place to get help and take action across the firm. Job-specific assistants sit beside it: EVEE for call-center staff, Connect Coach and Coach AI for advisers, and a proprietary coding assistant. For retail customers the bank has announced no named generative AI assistant. Chief analytics officer Derek Waldron's goal, stated in September 2025, is an AI concierge in every client experience; on October 13, 2026 Dimon said the bank plans customer-facing agents but blocks outside AI agents from operating in retail accounts, and CFO Jeremy Barnum described a targeted pilot of Smart Cash, an in-house tool that forecasts a customer's cash flow and moves funds to maximize yield.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

What has JPMorgan Chase said about AI assistants for its customers?
Caution came first. On August 9, 2024 Heitsenrether told CNBC the bank was being more careful with generative AI that directly touches the individual customer because of the risk that a chatbot gives bad information, while using it internally for marketing content, travel itineraries for clients of its travel agency and meeting summaries for financial advisers.[1]
The stated end state is broader. Derek Waldron said on September 30, 2025: 'Every employee will have their own personalized AI assistant; every process is powered by AI agents, and every client experience has an AI concierge.'[7]
Marianne Lake's consumer-bank letter in the 2025 annual report says people are 'switching from clicks to conversations' in how they discover, shop and pay, and that, going forward, the bank is embedding generative and agentic AI capabilities in those interactions. It names no product.[5]
On the October 13, 2026 earnings call Dimon said the bank uses AI agents internally and plans to deploy them in customer-facing applications, but will not let 'just any … outside agent' inside. A spokeswoman confirmed the bank blocks external AI agents from operating on behalf of retail customers and gave no timeline for safeguards that would allow it; read-only data sharing through open-banking providers continues.[8]
How are JPMorgan Chase's AI assistants built, and what has the bank not disclosed?
JPMorgan blocked ChatGPT when it appeared because staff 'didn't understand the risk' of data loss, Beer said in October 2026; the bank then built its own environment in its private cloud on Microsoft Azure, which led to LLM Suite. Heitsenrether said in 2024 the plan is 'not to be beholden to any one model provider' and that the bank's data is not used to train the models.[4][1]
Beer said LLM Suite can now complete orchestrated, multitask steps inside the bank's secure environment, that the bank will 'start with one core agent-building platform' to contain risk, and that it has moved from counting use cases to 50 business-owned strategic initiatives. CIO Dive reported the platform is being built out to support 1,000 business applications.[4]
Not disclosed: usage of the Employee Assistant, the models behind it, EVEE's launch date and volumes, Smart Cash's pilot size, and any date for a named generative AI assistant for Chase retail customers.[5][6][8]
