FIS integrates Spade transaction enrichment into debit processing
For the payments head at a debit issuer
Cleaner merchant names remove one avoidable source of unnecessary disputes, but they also raise the bar for your authorization and dispute controls. Decide whether your FIS setup can use the added transaction data before vague descriptors drive more disputes.
FIS integrated Spade’s real-time transaction enrichment technology into its debit processing platform. FIS debit issuing clients can now access richer merchant data at the transaction level and show cardholders cleaner, more recognizable merchant names on statements. Spade matches transactions to a more recognizable merchant identity, which FIS says can reduce unnecessary disputes and support authorization decisions. FIS says the data can also support analytics, AI features and personalized cardholder experiences. The integration is available to FIS debit issuing clients now.

Mastercard launches Advanced B2B Analytics
For the commercial-card head at a regional bank
Mastercard is making supplier enablement depend on data. Your card program now needs comparable accounts-payable insight or a partner that provides it, or broad supplier outreach will waste sales capacity.
Mastercard launched Advanced B2B Analytics, an AI-driven platform that analyzes accounts payable data to identify suppliers most likely to accept commercial card payments. It generates acceptance-propensity scores from fragmented supplier data in minutes and is designed to replace broad supplier outreach with targeted engagement. Corporate buyers can use the tool to shift spend toward suppliers inclined to accept digital payments, with the aim of improving working capital and card rebates. Issuers can use it to develop payment strategies for existing corporate clients. Absa Group and Emirates NBD are the first financial institutions offering the platform to corporate customers.

AMD agrees to acquire World Labs for $8.2 billion
For the CIO of a regional bank

AMD agreed to acquire AI research lab World Labs in an all-stock deal worth about $8.2 billion, expected to close by year-end. World Labs launched in 2024 and released Marble, a model that lets users create interactive 3D worlds from prompts, in 2025. Co-founder and CEO Fei-Fei Li will become AMD executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to CEO Lisa Su, while the World Labs team continues AI model research. Anthropic announces Claude Sonnet 5.5
For the AI platform owner at a bank
Your Sonnet 5 cost baseline is already stale. Re-benchmark high-volume, well-scoped agent work, but do not let lower token use become a reason to relax existing controls over sensitive bank tasks.
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, which it says runs 30% faster and costs up to 30% less than Sonnet 5 for typical token-billed workloads. The model costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with up to 90% savings from prompt caching and 50% from batch processing. It is available through the Claude Platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry; US-only inference costs 1.1 times standard input and output token pricing. Anthropic positions it for well-defined agent tasks such as investigation, review and drafting, with controls over thinking effort through the API.

Meta appoints MongoDB CEO Desai to lead enterprise AI platform
For the chief technology officer at a US bank
Meta is another enterprise-agent vendor to screen, not an approved platform by default. Require proof of identity, audit, data-residency and model-risk controls before its AI tools reach bank data or workflows.
Meta Platforms appointed MongoDB CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai on Monday to lead a new offering designed to bring Meta’s AI tools to businesses. Desai will step down as MongoDB chief executive after less than a year in the role. He took over as CEO in November from Dev Ittycheria. MongoDB appointed Ittycheria interim president and CEO. MongoDB shares fell 20% in premarket trading after the company disclosed Desai’s departure.
