Finastra unveils AI-powered repair recommendations

For the payments-operations head at a regional bank

Network-rule validation and human approval should be the minimum bar for AI that proposes wire repairs. Your bank must decide whether its exception workflow can prove why each correction was made, not just process it faster.

Finastra launched Repair Recommendations, an AI-powered capability within AI OperatorAssist. The cloud-native feature identifies payment discrepancies, analyzes underlying causes and provides recommendations for corrections. Its recommendations are validated against industry schemes and network rules, including Swift, Fedwire, SEPA, UPI and Nexus, for wire-room operators, exception specialists and technical support staff. Repair Recommendations complements Finastra’s Global PAYplus and Payments To Go products. Each recommended action requires human review and approval, while Finastra says the tool will reduce manual work, speed repairs and help teams handle higher payment volumes.

Bank of America launches Payments Insights for CashPro clients

For the commercial payments head at a regional bank

Your transaction reports are now a weaker corporate-payments product. Decide whether to build or source peer benchmarks and working-capital analytics before treasury clients expect more than basic reporting.

Bank of America launched Payments Insights for corporate and commercial CashPro clients, covering payment efficiency, cross-border flows and working-capital performance on U.S. accounts. The capability sits in the AI-powered CashPro Data Intelligence suite and uses proprietary peer benchmarking and dynamic visualizations to help treasury teams identify areas needing attention. CashPro facilitated 213 million payments in the first half of 2026, up 10% year over year. Next month, Capital Markets Insights will become available online, and in 2027 Security Insights will expand globally to CashPro program administrators with security scores and recommended actions.

HSBC deploys AI to enhance trade finance operations

For the trade finance operations head at a regional bank

Your manual-checking model is now a cost and service-risk choice, not a defensible default. HSBC makes automated extraction and classification, with human exception decisions, harder to dismiss.

HSBC launched Smart Checking, an AI-powered tool for processing, tracing and reviewing trade finance documents. HSBC processes more than one million documentary presentations each year, including documentary credits and collections, and each presentation can run to hundreds of pages. Smart Checking extracts and classifies structured and unstructured data, turning inconsistent documents into structured, searchable data for review. Documentary credit checks can include conditions unique to each transaction and commercial contract, and HSBC says some transactions take hours to process. The tool is in use in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates, with plans for a global rollout.

NVIDIA launches Open Agent Safety Platform

For the chief information security officer deploying ai agents

Application-layer controls do not stop agents that bypass them. Require runtime policy enforcement, isolated controls, action records and rapid quarantine before agents reach bank systems.

NVIDIA launched its Open Agent Safety Platform, which combines OpenShell open-source runtime software with the Sentry reference system design. OpenShell traces agent actions and enforces policies while agents run on NVIDIA Vera CPUs; it can also extend to Arm and Intel compute platforms. Sentry runs out of band on NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPUs, monitors agent behavior and can quarantine agents that leave their software boundaries in milliseconds. Sentry can inspect requests and responses, provide attested telemetry, verify agent identity and enforce zero-trust access policies for data, tools, APIs and services. JPMorganChase is among the organizations joining NVIDIA on agent safety.

Security architecture: Add runtime policy enforcement, action tracing and independent agent-stop controls to agent deployment requirements.

Anthropic introduces Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1

For the AI platform owner at a US bank

Lower token costs can make agent pilots easier to fund, but zero data retention is still temporary and eligibility-based. Decide whether Fable workloads meet your data-control standards before Enterprise Frontier Safeguards reaches enterprise customers.

Anthropic released Claude Fable 5.1 generally and made Claude Mythos 5.1 available through trusted access programs. The models share the same underlying model but use different safeguards; Mythos supports cybersecurity and life-sciences work. Fable 5.1 costs an estimated 25% less than Fable 5 for typical token-billed workloads because Anthropic cut cache-read pricing, with savings of up to about 45% for highly agentic work. Enterprise Frontier Safeguards will store data in cloud infrastructure controlled entirely by the customer and will roll out to enterprise customers in phases later this fall. Eligible customers can use Fable 5.1 with zero data retention until then. Anthropic says its new cybersecurity safeguards block 60% fewer false positives.

→ Action

AI platform: Map Fable 5.1 use cases to zero-data-retention eligibility and customer-controlled storage requirements before submitting production data.
