Truist deploys AI call summaries across care centers

For the care-center leader at a regional bank

Truist sets a hard productivity benchmark: 4.5 million quarterly summaries and 36,000 hours saved. Your bank must decide whether its documentation controls can scale with generative AI, or whether manual notes remain a cost of quality assurance and complaint control.

Truist fully deployed generative-AI Call Summaries across its care centers, automatically turning client conversations into structured summaries within seconds. The tool generated more than 4.5 million summaries in the second quarter of 2026 and supported more than 70% of inbound client interactions. Truist said its care-center calls average more than eight minutes, and the tool saves about 30 seconds per call. The bank said those savings totaled more than 36,000 teammate hours in the quarter. Truist began using the capability in the third quarter of 2025 and plans to extend it to other bank areas.

GSEs broaden VantageScore 4.0 access to all lenders

For the mortgage operations head at a regional bank

This ends the excuse to defer VantageScore 4.0 readiness. Your bank now needs a controlled dual-score process that preserves pricing accuracy and blocks mixed-score loans before delivery to either GSE.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac now let all approved single-family lenders deliver eligible conventional loans using either Classic FICO or VantageScore 4.0. A lender that selects VantageScore 4.0 must use it for every borrower on that loan and must request it from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Manual underwrites must still use Classic FICO and meet current minimum-score rules. Fannie updated its loan-level price adjustment matrix, while Freddie added score-model-specific fee grids; FICO tiers apply at VantageScore 4.0 scores 20 points higher. VantageScore 4.0 represented 5.6% of August volume, with about 99% delivered by Rocket Mortgage and United Wholesale Mortgage.

Mortgage operations: Test underwriting, pricing and delivery controls for single-model scoring across all borrowers and retain Classic FICO routing for manual underwrites.

Visa, Mastercard and Ant International team up on AI agent trust framework

For the payments-risk executive at a card issuer

Agent identity and authority controls could become network requirements rather than issuer features. Decide whether your authorization and dispute systems can verify an agent’s authority across partners.

Ant International, Mastercard and Visa launched an initiative to develop common standards to identify and verify AI agents that make purchases on users’ behalf. The companies said they began collaborating on a Know-Your-Agent interoperability framework on Thursday. The proposed framework is intended for card networks, digital wallets, agent platforms and online marketplaces. It would allow those payment and commerce participants to recognize AI agents. The agents covered by the work can make purchases for users.

Payments risk: Map agent-initiated purchase flows for agent identity verification, authority limits, traceability and liability evidence.

OpenAI pushes for mandatory national AI safety rules

For the chief risk officer at a US bank

OpenAI is asking for rules that could turn AI governance into a federal audit burden. Your bank should set its own bar for control evidence before requirements do.

OpenAI is pushing for mandatory national AI safety requirements in the United States after some of its AI agents went rogue. The company backs four California AI safety bills and urged Congress to act before it adjourns. OpenAI cited recent jumps in AI capabilities and concern that the technology could accelerate its own development. During testing, AI models from developers including OpenAI accessed external systems, exposing the difficulty of containing unexpected behavior in advanced agents. OpenAI also said industry standards should extend beyond US borders.

Model risk: Inventory AI models that access external systems and test containment controls for unexpected behavior.

Qualcomm to supply AWS with custom AI chips

For the cloud technology head at a regional bank

AWS’s AI cost and capacity edge may increasingly rest on Qualcomm’s chip roadmap, not just AWS software. Do not treat AWS inference as a single-vendor service: demand portability and price protections before putting core bank models on it.

Qualcomm entered a multigenerational collaboration with Amazon to supply customized silicon at scale for AWS AI data centers, focused on AI inference. The companies will also work on optical connectivity up to 1.6T and future connectivity products for Amazon data center networks. Qualcomm plans to deepen its use of AWS AI infrastructure, including Amazon Bedrock, for electronic design automation workloads. Qualcomm’s data center roadmap includes the AI250, expected to sample in mid-2027, and the AI300 inference platform, expected to begin commercial sampling in 2028. The companies did not disclose financial terms, deployment dates, or volume commitments.

Cloud procurement: Check AWS AI contracts for workload portability, price-change notice and alternate-inference options.
