*Sells banks, insurers and payment firms a modular financial-crime platform (monitoring, screening, KYC, payment fraud, case management) built on the NetReveal software it bought from BAE Systems in 2022, with its Sensa AI unit adding machine-learning overlays and, since 2025, AI agents that draft investigations and SAR narratives; financial services is one of several SymphonyAI industry divisions.*

## What is SymphonyAI, and which banks use it?

SymphonyAI is a private Palo Alto company, founded in 2017 by Romesh Wadhwani, that sells banks financial-crime software: AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC and payment fraud, built on NetReveal (bought from BAE Systems in 2022) and its Sensa AI unit. Its Symphony Risk Intelligence platform adds AI agents for investigations and SAR narratives. None of our 100 largest US banks is named as a customer; its US bank case studies are anonymous. Pricing is not published; it sells through sales-led proposals.

## Flagship platform: Symphony Risk Intelligence (SRI)

SymphonyAI's financial-crime platform, launched on October 23, 2025 as Sensa Risk Intelligence with Investigation, Agent, Detection and Data modules, and reintroduced on September 24, 2026 as the agent-native Symphony Risk Intelligence, in which agents handle detection, triage, investigation and reporting under configurable human oversight and an audit trail. ([SymphonyAI](https://symphonyai.com/news/financial-services/sensa-risk-intelligence-ai-financial-compliance), [SymphonyAI (Business Wire via Morningstar)](https://www.morningstar.com/news/business-wire/20260924914614/symphonyai-introduces-symphony-risk-intelligence-an-agent-native-platform-that-unlocks-always-on-compliance-the-catalyst-for-transforming-the-financial-crime-operating-model), [SymphonyAI](https://www.symphonyai.com/financial-services/platform/))

## Key points

- SymphonyAI agreed to buy the NetReveal financial-crime business from BAE Systems on July 12, 2022 and closed the deal on October 31, 2022; at closing it said NetReveal counted 200 of the world's leading financial institutions, including top-100 global banks, as customers.
- Its AI financial-crime line began with Ayasdi, which joined SymphonyAI in May 2019, became Symphony AyasdiAI and was renamed SymphonyAI Sensa in August 2022 after the Sensa product's 2021 launch.
- SymphonyAI launched Sensa Risk Intelligence on October 23, 2025 and on September 24, 2026 reintroduced it as Symphony Risk Intelligence, an 'agent-native' platform for what it calls Always-on Compliance, citing up to 80% fewer false positives and 70% faster case resolution at top-tier institutions (vendor-reported).
- SymphonyAI said in October 2023 that it had turned profitable with a revenue run rate approaching $500 million across all its industries; in July 2024 its CEO told Reuters it was preparing an IPO for the second half of 2025, timing subject to change.
- SymphonyAI's named financial-crime customers are outside the US top 100: its case studies and releases name Metro Bank (UK), Absa (South Africa), UNIQA Insurance Group and Munich Re; its US bank case studies (one of the largest American banks, a U.S. regional bank, a major U.S. financial institution) do not name the institution.
- In 2026 SymphonyAI's financial-crime products were named a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Financial Crime Management Solutions, Q3 2026, a Category Leader in Chartis's watchlist and adverse-media quadrants, and a Luminary in Celent's KYC matrix, according to SymphonyAI's own announcements.
- Pricing is not published; SymphonyAI's platform page says its specialists build an implementation proposal and ROI estimate for each institution rather than listing plans or prices.

## Which rules apply to a bank using SymphonyAI?

- [FinCEN](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/fincen) — SymphonyAI's monitoring, screening and SAR-narrative agents sit inside a bank's BSA/AML program; the 2018 interagency statement lets banks pilot such tools, and FinCEN's April 2026 AML/CFT program proposal would weigh effective use of AI, but the bank still owns every SAR filed. See [2018 Joint Statement on BSA/AML Innovation](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fincen-joint-statement-innovation-2018), [2026 AML/CFT Program Proposed Rule](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fincen-aml-cft-program-nprm-2026).
- [Federal Reserve](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/federal-reserve) — SymphonyAI's detection models and AML overlays are vendor models a bank must validate under SR 26-2, and as an outsourced AML platform SymphonyAI falls under the interagency third-party risk guidance (SR 23-4). See [SR 26-2](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fed-sr-26-2), [SR 23-4](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fed-sr-23-4).
- [OCC](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/occ) — A national bank running SymphonyAI's SaaS monitoring and screening manages it as a critical third party under OCC Bulletin 2023-17 and validates its AI detection models under OCC Bulletin 2026-13. See [OCC Bulletin 2023-17](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/occ-bulletin-2023-17), [OCC Bulletin 2026-13](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/occ-bulletin-2026-13).
- [UK (BoE / PRA / FCA)](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/uk) — SymphonyAI developed an AI agent capability in the FCA's Supercharged Sandbox and its named bank customer Metro Bank is UK-regulated, so UK banks using its agents fall under the FCA's stated approach to AI in financial services. See [FCA AI Update (Apr 2024)](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fca-ai-update-2024).

## What the record suggests

### Pricing is not published

SymphonyAI lists no plans or prices; its platform page describes a per-institution implementation proposal and ROI estimate from its solution specialists.

### No named US top-100 bank customer

SymphonyAI's US bank case studies describe 'one of the largest American banks', 'a fast-growing U.S. regional bank' and 'a major U.S. financial institution' without naming them; its named financial-crime customers in the sources reviewed are Metro Bank, Absa, UNIQA and Munich Re.

### Results are vendor-reported, some from proofs of concept

Figures such as 77% fewer false positives at Absa, 20% fewer alerts at Metro Bank and 99% fewer sanctions false positives come from SymphonyAI's own case studies; the 99% figure is from a proof of concept, not a live deployment.

### Product names have changed several times

The same lineage appears as Ayasdi, Symphony AyasdiAI, SymphonyAI Sensa, NetReveal, Sensa Risk Intelligence (2025) and Symphony Risk Intelligence (2026), and Sensa Agent became SRI Agents; older contracts and analyst reports may use earlier names.

### Financial services is one division of a multi-industry company

SymphonyAI also sells retail, industrial, IT and media software; company-wide figures such as the ~$500 million run rate and 2,000 customers are not financial-services-only.

### Analyst rankings are reported through SymphonyAI

The Forrester, Chartis and Celent recognitions cited here are summarized on SymphonyAI's own pages; the full analyst reports sit behind the analysts' or SymphonyAI's download forms.

## FAQ

### How much does SymphonyAI cost?

SymphonyAI does not publish pricing for its financial-crime software. Its Symphony Risk Intelligence page says solution specialists review an institution's challenges and regulatory needs and then develop an implementation proposal with an ROI estimate. Contracts are sales-led SaaS subscriptions scoped by module, such as transaction monitoring, screening, KYC, payment fraud or AI agents.

### Which banks use SymphonyAI?

None of the 100 largest US banks is named as a SymphonyAI customer in the sources reviewed. SymphonyAI publishes anonymous US case studies, including one of the largest American banks, which it says screens more than 400 million names on its platform, and a U.S. regional bank using it for wire and SWIFT fraud. Named financial-sector customers include Metro Bank in the UK, Absa in South Africa, UNIQA and Munich Re.

### Who owns SymphonyAI?

SymphonyAI is privately held. It is a SAIGroup company founded in 2017 by Romesh Wadhwani, who committed $1 billion to it. Reuters reported in July 2024 that Wadhwani, the chairman, had put in $600 million and remained the largest shareholder, and that the company was preparing an IPO for the second half of 2025, with timing subject to change.

### Is SymphonyAI a bank or a regulated financial institution?

No. SymphonyAI is a software vendor. Banks that use its monitoring, screening and KYC products stay responsible for their own BSA/AML programs and suspicious activity reports, and they oversee SymphonyAI as a third-party provider. SymphonyAI took part in the UK FCA's Supercharged AI Sandbox in 2025-2026 as a technology firm, not as a regulated bank.

### What is Symphony Risk Intelligence?

Symphony Risk Intelligence (SRI) is SymphonyAI's financial-crime platform. It launched in October 2025 as Sensa Risk Intelligence, with investigation, agent, detection and data modules, and was reintroduced in September 2026 as an agent-native platform. AI agents handle detection, triage, investigation and reporting within set limits, with human oversight that can be configured and an audit trail for each decision.

### What is the difference between NetReveal and Sensa?

NetReveal is the transaction-monitoring, screening and case-management software SymphonyAI bought from BAE Systems in 2022. Sensa began as the AI product of Ayasdi, which joined SymphonyAI in 2019, and covers machine-learning overlays and investigation tools. SymphonyAI now sells both under its Symphony Risk Intelligence platform.

### Does SymphonyAI use generative AI to write SARs?

SymphonyAI sells an SRI Narrative Agent that it says drafts SAR narratives in line with an institution's policies and financial intelligence unit requirements, along with research and case-summary agents. It describes its agents as advisory, with humans kept in the loop, so the filing decision stays with the bank's investigators.
