## What is Ramp's AI strategy?

Ramp's stated AI strategy is to do finance work on its customers' behalf with agents, and to sell control over the AI bill itself. In its July 30, 2025 funding post Ramp set out a timeline: agents take over finance busywork by 2026, finance runs in parallel by 2027, when Ramp aims for users to get 30x more done per minute, and autonomous AI with human oversight arrives by 2028. The products followed in sequence: policy agents (July 2025, available to all Ramp Plus customers in January 2026, by which time more than 1,000 finance teams used them), agents for accounts payable (October 2025), the Accounting Agent (February 2026), procurement agents (April 2026), Ramp Stack for accounting firms (June 2026) and Accounts Receivable agents (September 2026). A second line manages AI spending: token spend management (April 2026), Router.com (August 2026) and the Glass workspace (October 2026). CEO Eric Glyman told McKinsey in March 2026: "If your mission is to save companies time and money, you need to do work on their behalf. That's what AI enables." The org chart moved with it: on June 25, 2026 co-founder Karim Atiyeh became co-CEO and Rahul Sengottuvelu, who led Applied AI, became CTO. Ramp is private and files no annual report, so no AI budget, AI headcount or AI risk factors are on the record, and its agent results are Ramp's own figures. ## Which models does Ramp use, who runs AI there, and what is not disclosed?

OpenAI says Ramp engineers use Codex with GPT-5.5 to review code and that Codex has become a mandatory part of many of Ramp's code review flows; Austin Ray, who leads AI DevEx at Ramp, used it to build the On-Call Assistant. On the customer side Ramp is model-agnostic: Glass works with any model through Router.com, and Ramp's MCP and CLI are used from Claude, ChatGPT and Notion AI. ([OpenAI](https://openai.com/index/ramp), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/introducing-glass), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/ramp-customers-are-running-month-end-with-ai-assistants))

AI sits at the top of the org chart. Since June 25, 2026 the CTO is Rahul Sengottuvelu, who led Applied AI after joining through Ramp's acquisition of his company; the founders tied the change to the AI exponential. In October 2025 Ramp brought in the Jolt team, engineers who built technology to understand large codebases, to improve its core AI platform. ([Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/welcoming-my-co-founder-karim-as-co-ceo-of-ramp), [Payments Dive](https://www.paymentsdive.com/news/ramp-names-karim-atiyeh-co-ceo-glyman-cto-Rahul-Sengottuvelu/824283/), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/scaling-ramp-ai-with-jolt-team))

Ramp describes AI governance through certification rather than a published policy: its Trust Center lists ISO/IEC 42001:2023, which Ramp says governs AI embedded across all products and services of the Ramp.com platform. ([Ramp](https://trust.ramp.com))

What is not disclosed: Ramp's AI budget or AI headcount, which model providers power its customer-facing agents, its cloud provider, and any independent measurement of agent accuracy. The 15x and 7x out-of-policy figures, the $1M+ in invoice fraud flagged and the routing savings are all Ramp's own claims, and as a private company Ramp files no 10-K with AI risk factors. ([Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/ramp-agents-announcement), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/ramp-policy-agent-ga-launch), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/ramp-ap-agents-announcement), [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/router-launch))

| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Oct 13, 2026 | Glass, an internal AI workspace, opens to outside companies | CEO Eric Glyman said Ramp built Glass after a week in which the company burned $1.5 million on AI tokens; it is a shared AI workspace holding a company's accumulated prompts, workflows and institutional knowledge (pulled from Linear, Notion, Google, Slack, Gong and other tools), usable with any model and routed through Router.com, with a running cost meter per project. Ramp says 323 of its own employees made more than 6,500 edits to what Glass knows and that moving Ramp's own AI workloads onto Router cut its model bill 30% overnight; Ramp is now onboarding the first outside businesses to Glass, rather than keeping it an internal tool. | [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/introducing-glass) |

| Jul 9, 2025 | Ramp launches its first AI agents | Policy agents for Ramp Plus customers that review expenses; Ramp says they catch 15x more out-of-policy spend than non-AI alternatives, enforce policy with 99% accuracy and escalate only 10-15% of expenses to humans. | [Ramp](https://ramp.com/blog/ramp-agents-announcement) |

## Common questions

### What has Ramp's CEO said about AI?

Eric Glyman told McKinsey in March 2026 that if a company's mission is to save customers time and money it has to do work on their behalf, which is what AI enables. In June 2026 he called AI tokens a third pillar of business spend after people and vendors, and told CNBC the era of tokenmaxxing was nearing its end.

### Who leads AI at Ramp?

Rahul Sengottuvelu, who led Applied AI at Ramp after Ramp acquired his company, became CTO on June 25, 2026, when co-founder Karim Atiyeh moved from CTO to co-CEO alongside Eric Glyman. Austin Ray leads AI developer experience, according to OpenAI's May 2026 customer story about Ramp.

### What AI products has Ramp launched, and in what order?

Policy agents for expense review came first in July 2025, then agents for accounts payable (October 2025), the Accounting Agent (February 2026), token spend management and procurement agents (April 2026), Ramp Stack (June 2026), Router.com (August 2026), Accounts Receivable agents (September 2026) and the Glass AI workspace (October 2026).

### Which AI models does Ramp use?

Ramp has not said which models power its customer-facing agents. OpenAI says Ramp engineers use Codex with GPT-5.5 for code review and to build the On-Call Assistant. Glass and Router.com are model-agnostic, and customers connect Ramp to Claude, ChatGPT and Notion AI through its MCP server and CLI.

### Does Ramp disclose how much it spends on AI?

No. Ramp is private and publishes no annual report, so there is no AI budget, AI headcount or AI risk-factor disclosure. Its CEO has said Ramp burned $1.5 million on AI tokens in one week in May 2026, and moving its own workloads onto Router cut its model bill 30%, both Ramp's own figures.
