## What AI research, patents and partnerships does TD Bank have?

TD does its AI research in Layer 6, the Toronto lab it acquired in 2018. TD described Layer 6 in June 2025 as having grown from about 20 people to more than 200; American Banker put chief AI scientist Maksims Volkovs' team at 130-plus in 2026, and TD says he has overseen nearly 100 use cases and more than 150 patent filings.
