*Seacoast, 15th among banks in Florida by deposits, runs agentic AI in its dispute operations, publishes a machine-readable 'AI information' page for language models, and has just finished converting the bank of The Villages, its largest integration ever.*

## How is Seacoast Bank using AI?

Seacoast Banking Corporation of Florida, the Stuart-based parent of Seacoast National Bank with about $21 billion of assets, 104 branch offices in Florida and Georgia at 31 December 2025, has two concrete AI markers most peers lack. In December 2025 it put its card and payment disputes onto Quavo's agentic-AI platform, which runs the dispute lifecycle end to end, detects and prevents fraud from a model trained on millions of cases and, in the bank's words, lets it 'automate portions of the dispute process and maintain compliance'. And it publishes an 'AI Information' page written for 'AI assistants and large language models', listing its identity, products and 'AI response instructions', a deliberate bid to be described accurately by AI search. The corporate story is scale: after agreeing in February 2025 to buy Heartland Bancshares for $110 million and Villages Bancorporation, the $4.1 billion bank of The Villages retirement community, for $710.8 million (announced May 2025, expected to be about 22% accretive to 2026 earnings), Seacoast completed the conversion of Citizens First Bank customers onto its platforms in early July 2026, which chairman and CEO Chuck Shaffer called 'one of the most significant and complex integrations in our company's history' delivered as 'an exceptionally smooth client experience'. Second-quarter 2026 net income was $59.5 million, or $0.55 per share, adjusted $65.8 million, or $0.61, with adjusted pre-tax pre-provision earnings up 52% year on year, loans up 16% annualised to $13.1 billion on a record $1.3 billion commercial pipeline, a stable 3.83% margin and a 15.8% adjusted return on tangible equity; in April, presenting first-quarter results, Shaffer cited 'important product and technology initiatives that will enhance the client experience'. On the first-quarter 2026 call Shaffer said: 'A lot of hard work is going on with building around other new tools and AI products', and the 2025 10-K, filed in February 2026, expanded the dedicated AI risk factor first added a year earlier, now stating that the bank may 'depend on AI systems designed to improve efficiency' and warns that AI-driven tools, deepfakes and synthetic identities make fraud harder to detect. Technology is led by chief information officer Jeff Semonovich, hired from Western Alliance in January 2025 under chief operating officer Julie Kleffel, and in March 2026 the board added Kathy Kay, chief information officer of Principal Financial Group, whose remit there includes data and analytics and artificial intelligence, as part of a refresh for 'technology and information security' expertise. Customer content covers deepfake fraud, vishing and email compromise. Seacoast National Bank is a national bank supervised by the OCC, whose model-risk and gen-AI expectations apply to the dispute platform.

## What AI partnerships and patents does Seacoast Bank have?

Seacoast's public AI record names two vendors: Quavo, whose agentic-AI platform runs its disputes since December 2025, and Abrigo, whose generative-AI Loan Review Assistant is in use in credit risk review. It also has one published patent application, US 2024/0020590 A1, on predictive customer analytics, and a 2018 machine-learning customer-lifetime-value programme built on SAS software and the FIS core. No AI lab, cloud or GPU partner, and no model inventory, is public. ## Flagship platform: Quavo agentic dispute management and Seacoast's AI-information page

In December 2025 Seacoast adopted Quavo's QFD dispute-management platform, which handles the full dispute lifecycle from intake and investigation to recovery and resolution using agentic AI trained on millions of real-world cases to detect and prevent fraud; the bank cites improved Regulation E compliance, scalable operations and faster resolution, and payment-operations manager Jennifer Powers said it 'helps us automate portions of the dispute process and maintain compliance while allowing our teams to focus on efficient, customer-centered service'. Seacoast also publishes an 'AI Information' page of structured, authoritative facts 'intended for AI assistants and large language models', with explicit response instructions, an early example of a bank optimising for AI search. Its business guidance recommends AI and machine learning to detect phishing and email compromise. No enterprise AI leader, model inventory or budget has been disclosed. ([Quavo (GlobeNewswire)](https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2025/12/09/3202154/0/en/Seacoast-Bank-and-Quavo-Partner-to-Enhance-Dispute-Operations-and-Reduce-Fraud-Losses.html), [Seacoast Bank](https://www.seacoastbank.com/ai-information), [Seacoast Bank](https://seacoastbank.com/resource-center/business-insights/business-fraud/protect-your-business-from-business-email-compromise))

## Key points

- Agentic AI in production for disputes via Quavo QFD (December 2025): fraud detection, Regulation E compliance and faster resolution.
- Machine-readable 'AI Information' page with response instructions for AI assistants and large language models.
- Villages Bancorporation ($710.8 million) and Heartland Bancshares ($110 million) acquired; Citizens First Bank conversion completed in early July 2026.
- Q2 2026 net income $59.5 million ($0.55), adjusted $65.8 million ($0.61); adjusted PPNR up 52%; loans up 16% annualised; record $1.3 billion pipeline.
- Business guidance recommends AI and machine learning to detect phishing and business email compromise.
- No enterprise AI leader, model inventory or budget disclosed; 15th-largest bank in Florida by deposits ($12.5 billion at 30 June 2025, FDIC Summary of Deposits).
- CEO on the Q1 2026 call: 'A lot of hard work is going on with building around other new tools and AI products'.
- 2025 10-K expands the dedicated AI risk factor first added in the 2024 10-K (February 2025): the bank may depend internally on AI systems for efficiency, and AI-driven deepfakes and synthetic identities make fraud harder to detect.
- Technology bench: CIO Jeff Semonovich (ex-Western Alliance, announced January 2025) under COO Julie Kleffel; board added Principal Financial's CIO Kathy Kay in March 2026 for technology and information-security oversight.
- Second production AI use case: Abrigo's generative-AI Loan Review Assistant inside DiCOM Loan Review cut clean credit-review line sheets from 8 to 10 hours to 4 to 6 hours; every output is human-reviewed and cites source documents; the stated goal is to automate every non-judgemental credit-review task by 2028 (Abrigo case study, October 2026).
- The April 2026 proxy statement describes 'Preparing an AI-Ready Infrastructure': modernised core systems and data architecture so the bank can 'responsibly adopt emerging AI-enabled tools over time'; the board's Information Technology Committee, chaired by Alvaro Monserrat, explicitly assesses AI risk.
- Board technology bench: Kathy Kay (CIO, Principal Financial Group, joined March 2026) and Maryann Goebel (former CIO of Fiserv) sit on the Information Technology Committee; the CISO reports to chief risk officer Joseph Forlenza, not to the CIO.
- One published patent application: US 2024/0020590 A1, 'Predictive data analysis using value-based predictive inputs' (published 18 January 2024, inventor Robert Stillwell, priority 2018), the only AI-adjacent filing found under the bank's name; Stillwell described the bank's machine-learning customer-lifetime-value programme, built on SAS software and the FIS core, in 2018.
- AI language on earnings calls is thin: the CEO's one remark is on the Q1 2026 call; the Q2 2026 call (28 July 2026) had no AI remark, and the Q2 10-Q (4 August 2026) widened its AI risk bullet to data privacy, model accuracy, regulatory compliance and intellectual property.
- Outsourced data processing cost $37.6 million in 2025 (+3%) and $12.2 million in Q2 2026 against $8.5 million a year earlier, the visible vendor bill behind the bank's technology; the 10-K does not name the core processor.

## Which AI vendors and fintechs does Seacoast Bank work with?

| Company | What Seacoast Bank uses it for | Status | Category |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Abrigo](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/vendors/abrigo) | Loan Review Assistant inside DiCOM Loan Review, automating nonjudgmental loan-review documentation (borrower summaries, collateral and cash-flow narratives) while reviewers keep all credit conclusions (Abrigo case study, reviewer-reported). | In production | [Document AI](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-tools/document-ai) |

Each vendor and fintech page cites the source for the relationship. [AI tools for banks](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-tools) · [fintech and neobank AI dossiers](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/fintech).

## Regulators it answers to

- [OCC](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/occ) — Seacoast National Bank is a national bank; OCC model-risk and gen-AI expectations apply to the agentic dispute platform. See [OCC Bulletin 2026-13](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/occ-bulletin-2026-13), [OCC Semiannual Risk Perspective, Spring 2026](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/occ-semiannual-risk-perspective-spring-2026).
- [CFPB](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/cfpb) — Regulation E dispute handling automated by AI is squarely within CFPB consumer-protection scope. See [CFPB Chatbots in Consumer Finance (issue spotlight, 2023)](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/cfpb-chatbots-in-consumer-finance-2023), [ECOA / Regulation B adverse action (15 U.S.C. 1691(d); 12 CFR 1002.9)](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/cfpb-ecoa-regulation-b-adverse-action).
- [Federal Reserve](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/federal-reserve) — Holding-company oversight of acquisition integration and third-party AI vendors. See [SR 23-4](https://www.bankingnewsai.com/ai-regulation/documents/fed-sr-23-4).

## What the record suggests

### Disputes are a smart first agentic use case

Regulation E timelines and fraud losses give a measurable payoff, and the vendor carries the model; validation and audit trails should still sit in the bank's SR 11-7 inventory.

### The AI-information page is ahead of the industry

Publishing structured facts for language models is cheap insurance against AI search misdescribing the bank; peers should copy it.

### Post-conversion capacity is the opportunity

With The Villages integrated, the technology organisation can move from migration to the 'product and technology initiatives' the CEO cites.

### Name the enterprise owner

A payments-operations sponsor got the first use case live; an enterprise AI owner would scale it.

## FAQ

### Who leads AI at Seacoast Bank?

Seacoast has named no chief AI officer, chief data officer or enterprise AI head. Technology sits with chief information officer Jeff Semonovich, hired from Western Alliance in January 2025, under chief operating officer Julie Kleffel. Chief risk officer Joseph Forlenza owns the risk framework and the CISO reports to him. The board's Information Technology Committee, chaired by Alvaro Monserrat with Principal Financial's CIO Kathy Kay and former Fiserv CIO Maryann Goebel as members, assesses AI risk. Day-to-day owners are Jennifer Powers in payment disputes and Hannah Primes in credit-risk review.

### Does Seacoast Bank use AI?

Yes. Since December 2025 Seacoast has run its card and payment disputes on Quavo's agentic-AI platform, which automates the dispute lifecycle and detects fraud. Its credit-risk review team uses Abrigo's generative-AI Loan Review Assistant, which cut clean line sheets from 8 to 10 hours to 4 to 6 hours. It also publishes an 'AI Information' page for AI assistants. No enterprise AI leader or budget has been disclosed.

### What did Seacoast acquire in The Villages?

Villages Bancorporation, parent of Citizens First Bank, the $4.1 billion-asset bank of The Villages retirement community. The price was $710.8 million at the May 2025 announcement and about $829 million at closing on 1 October 2025. The customer conversion onto Seacoast's platforms was completed in early July 2026, with about 300 staff working on it. Seacoast also bought Heartland Bancshares for about $111.2 million in July 2025.

### Which AI vendors and patents does Seacoast Bank have?

Two vendors are public. Quavo supplies the agentic-AI dispute platform adopted in December 2025, and Abrigo supplies the generative-AI Loan Review Assistant used inside DiCOM Loan Review, which cut clean line sheets from 8 to 10 hours to 4 to 6 hours. One patent application is filed under the bank's name, US 2024/0020590 A1 on predictive customer analytics, published in January 2024 and pending. No large-language-model provider, cloud partner or AI budget has been disclosed, and the 10-K does not name the core data processor.

### What do Seacoast's SEC filings say about AI?

The 2024 10-K, filed in February 2025, first carried a dedicated AI risk factor on biased or incorrect model output and limited visibility into third-party models. The 2025 10-K, filed in February 2026, added reliance on AI for efficiency, model drift, AI-enabled competitors and AI-driven deepfake fraud. The Q2 2026 10-Q, filed 4 August 2026, widened the forward-looking bullet to data privacy, model accuracy, regulatory compliance and intellectual property. The April 2026 proxy adds a plan for an AI-ready infrastructure.
