## How does Santander US compare with its peers on AI and technology?

On this site's AI disclosure index Santander US scores 87.2 (#8 of 120 US banks), second in a nine-bank group behind TD Bank US (91.8), in a close cluster with Capital One (86.9), BMO US (85.8) and Citizens (85.3). What separates it is a group program with a dollar target: at its February 25, 2026 investor day Santander said AI would contribute more than €1 billion to its 2028 targets, about €300 million of revenue and €700 million of lower cost, and on June 22, 2026 it extended AI tools to all 185,000 employees, with more than 280 process-automation agents in production and €35 million of AI business value in the first quarter. In the US, the concrete AI is in auto finance: its machine-learning credit-risk work on FICO Platform won a 2025 FICO Decisions Award for a business with a $60 billion portfolio and more than 3 million customers. Its gap is US-specific disclosure. The Q2 2026 10-Q does not mention AI, and no US AI budget, head of AI or customer assistant is named. Peers publish more: Capital One's Chat Concierge for auto dealers reported a 55% lift in engagement and serious leads, Citizens says its CiZi assistant cut call volume by 44%, and TD's US bank has 1,800 developers on GitHub Copilot.
