## How does Capital One compare with its peers on AI and technology?

Capital One scores 86.9 on this site's US AI disclosure index (#9 of 120), sixth of the nine banks in its card-and-large-bank peer group, behind Bank of America (97.3), Citigroup (94.9), American Express (93.1), JPMorgan Chase (89) and Wells Fargo (88.8). The gap is coverage, not substance: Capital One has put 44 primary disclosures on the record, the most in the group against a peer median of 19.5, and all 13 of its recorded use cases are in production. Evident's index placed it second of 50 banks behind JPMorgan for a fourth year on October 6, 2026, with Bank of America seventh. Three things separate it from named peers. It builds its models: generative models customised from open-source LLMs on more than 20 trillion tokens, and Chat Concierge (March 2025), a multi-agent assistant on car dealers' websites, while JPMorgan's LLM Suite routes employees to third-party models. It went all in on AWS in 2020, six years before U.S. Bank signed a multiyear AWS move in May 2026. And it patents: 472 AI patents granted in 2024, the top bank on Harrity's list.
