BBVA scores 77.2 on this site's global AI disclosure index, #27 of 140 banks and fifth in its nine-bank peer group, behind Commonwealth Bank of Australia (88.2), DBS (85.5), Lloyds (83.6) and Deutsche Bank (78.9), and ahead of Société Générale (72.7), BNP Paribas (72), Santander (71.3) and ING (65.2). Evident's October 2026 AI Index ranks BBVA first among eurozone banks and third in Europe. The score measures what is on the record, not capability. Three things separate BBVA from named peers. First, depth of the OpenAI relationship: about 100,000 employees on ChatGPT Enterprise with 70%-plus weekly use and more than 20,000 custom GPTs (June 2026), plus a founding stake in OpenAI's Deployment Company; Santander gave AI access to all 185,000 employees in June 2026 across several providers, and Bloomberg reported that Société Générale scrapped its in-house SoGPT for Microsoft Copilot. Second, production scale: 1,127 AI use cases in production (July 2026), against more than 800 in place at BNP Paribas.
