## What technology stack does Ally Financial run on?

Ally runs a mostly cloud stack it rebuilt over about five years. The auto-finance core moved off a mainframe to the web-based Ally Auto Advantage platform, migrating 4.5TB of data, including an $80-plus billion portfolio and 6.5 million customer records, from eight source systems (described February 2021); CIO Dive reported in 2020 that the mainframe exit involved more than 300 interfaces, 72 systems and about 100,000 test cases. In May 2025 the then CIDO said about 75% of applications and about 95% of enterprise data run in the cloud, recalling that five years earlier Ally still ran on mainframes, a hardware-enabled network and six different apps; the network was redefined at the start of 2022. Data sits in the Amazon cloud while generative models come through Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service, and Ally.ai's orchestration layer can also route to FLAN and Amazon Bedrock. Operations use an AIOps platform that onboarded more than 200 applications in six months and runs more than 100 automated ticketing pipelines (2022). Ally's 2025 technology partner awards went to Microsoft, NetSPI, Equinix, LaunchDarkly and Bandwidth. Since July 20, 2026 the stack is run by Mark Mathewson as chief information and data officer.
