# SB 25B-004: Artificial Intelligence Consumer Protections — delay of effective date to June 30, 2026

SB 25B-004, signed by Governor Polis on August 28, 2025 at the close of a special legislative session, postponed the effective date of the Colorado AI Act from February 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026 without changing its substance. Lawmakers had been unable to agree on amendments during the special session, so the delay bought time for the 2026 regular session, which ultimately replaced the law with SB 26-189.
