15 banks, 15 dated moves (October to December 2026): 1 in production, 2 rolling out, 1 pilots, 10 announcements. Most active: Amex (2), BBVA (2), JPMorgan (1), Wells Fargo (1), BNY (1).

## The quarter

So far in the fourth quarter of 2026, banks have made 16 recorded moves on AI agents across 15 banks, in a record that runs to October 19; Amex and BBVA made two each. JPMorgan made the quarter's one policy move on October 13: Dimon said the bank will not let outside agents operate inside accounts and warned of a 'liability transfer' to customers who use them. In production, BNY reported on October 1 that 99% of staff were trained on Eliza within six months and more than 50% build agents. TD extended agentic AI to mortgage funding and discharge on October 13, with funding case review in up to half the time.

Santander ran the one pilot, reporting on October 19 that serving costs in selected experimental use cases fell from around €5 to approximately €0.03 per interaction, under a new three-year NVIDIA framework. Payments moves stayed early: HSBC's October 9 test with Ant Digital had AI agents pay with tokenized deposits but was not a launch, and Amex said on October 8 that only 15% of US consumers in a Teneo survey would let an agent make expensive purchases. BBVA reported on October 6 that voice agents resolved close to 90% of interactions in pilots in Peru and Mexico, and Singapore's MAS issued final AI risk guidelines covering OCBC on October 7. As of October 19, BBVA's role in the Poppy agent protocol, the Amex merchant advisory council and statements from Wells Fargo, State Street, M&T and Barclays remained at the announcement stage.
