## The quarter

In the fourth quarter of 2025, banks made 32 recorded moves on AI agents across 30 banks, led by Capital One, PNC and BNY with two each. In production, an OpenAI case study on December 12 counted 20,000 agent builders and 125-plus live use cases at BNY, with a contract review assistant cutting legal review from four hours to one. OCBC's Bank of Singapore announced an agentic Source of Wealth Assistant on October 10 that cuts report preparation from 10 days to an hour, BMO Financial Group reported its first in-house agentic application on December 4, and Schwab said on November 10 that AI agents help engineers finish internal projects about 20% faster.

Pilots were few: Lloyds announced an agentic AI financial assistant on November 6 after testing with 7,000 staff, Synchrony set up an agentic commerce team building its own Synchrony Agent on October 24, and Live Oak described a lending-platform pilot on October 23. In payments, Fifth Third made Brex its commercial-card provider on December 9, covering $5.6 billion of annual card volume, Barclays US expanded its Visa partnership with an agentic-commerce focus on October 29, and MUFG signed an OpenAI agreement on November 12 that includes agentic commerce support and ChatGPT Enterprise for about 35,000 bank employees. At quarter end, PNC's mobile app being built by AI agents, 40% to 50% complete on December 2, Customers Bank's more than 100 agentic use cases, U.S. Bank's agentic-commerce initiative and Deutsche Bank's 2028 AI targets were still announcements.
